About This Experience

The private way to do the west-coast caves, and at $233 for the boat it is cheaper per head than it looks: split six ways that is under $40 each, less than most shared cruises. Katerina's fleet runs from Porto Vromi Anafonitria, the quay almost opposite the wreck, so the two hours are spent on the coast rather than getting to it.

The skipper takes you to the wreck for photographs from the water and then into the cave coast that the shared boats can only sample: Maravelia (the operator spells it Maravegias) with the Hidden Treasure Cave, the Window of Luck, Dolphins Rock and Dolphins Cave, the Porto Vromi blue caves, the Livaritos caves, Freedom and Sfogio beaches and White Beach with its stone towers. Because it is your boat you stop where you want, swim inside a cave or off a beach, and extend on the spot at extra cost if two hours is not enough.

Fuel is included on the skippered option, and the boats carry life jackets, waterproof bags and a spare engine. Bring your own snorkelling gear, drinks and a cool box; the same operator rents the boat without a skipper for anyone who wants to drive.

Good to Know & Caveats

• Navagio (Shipwreck Beach) is closed to landings and to swimming inside the bay through 31 October 2026; boats hold about 50 m offshore and you photograph the wreck from the water
• Weather-dependent: the boat leg is cancelled or rerouted when the west-coast swell builds, and the afternoon sea breeze (the maistro) makes later departures choppier
• The price is per boat for up to six people, not per person
• Depart from Porto Vromi ANAFONITRIA — Porto Vromi Maries is a separate harbour 16 km away by road
• Rescheduling for weather is handled by WhatsApp and reviewers found it painless
• The caves here are the west-coast caves — the northern Blue Caves at Cape Skinari are not in range
