This is the one entry on our tour list that is not a boat trip, and it earns its place because it visits the one Zakynthos cave you can walk into. A minivan collects you in the late afternoon and drives to the south-west, where a clifftop path gives you the Mizithres — the twin limestone stacks off Cape Keri — from directly above, with the deepest water in the Mediterranean somewhere out beyond them.

From there the road winds through Agalas to the Damianos Cave, a two-tiered limestone cave with stalactites and two entrances stacked one above the other, wrapped in a local legend about a dragon. It is a fifteen-minute stop, cool after the heat of the day, with the hills and the sea framed in the lower mouth.

The tour ends at the Sunset Agalas bar for an hour, with wine or a cocktail as the sun goes into the Ionian — the private option adds ground and drone photography.
