Zakynthos: Cruises to the Blue Caves and Navagio Beach

About This Experience

Actipis Cruises is the oldest excursion company on the island — the family started running boats in 1988, not long after the Panagiotis went aground — and this is its short northern circuit from Agios Nikolaos. Two hours and fifteen minutes, many of the boats glass-bottomed, and the two things people come for: the wreck and the Blue Caves.

The boat runs first to Navagio for twenty minutes of photographs from the water, then turns back for a swim stop at Selina beach before heading into the Blue Caves. The boat enters the caves for photographs, then stops again in the bay outside them for a twenty-minute swim in the deep blue water. Both swims are from the boat.

It is the tidy alternative to the small Yotomu boat from the same harbour: a little cheaper, a little shorter, and with a glass floor and more shade, which suits families and anyone who wants the caves without a long day. Groups are sometimes split between a larger and a smaller boat.

Good to Know & Caveats

• Navagio (Shipwreck Beach) is closed to landings and to swimming inside the bay through 31 October 2026; boats hold about 50 m offshore and you photograph the wreck from the water
• Weather-dependent: the boat leg is cancelled or rerouted when the west-coast swell builds, and the afternoon sea breeze (the maistro) makes later departures choppier
• No pickup — Agios Nikolaos is about 40 minutes by road from Zakynthos Town
• Swimming is from the boat at both stops; there is no beach landing
• Busy departures are split across two boats of different sizes
